Family Vacation Summer 2012!

While Mom and Dad were going to see the Manti Pageant, Ashley and I drove up to Idaho to visit Nana and Poppy. The first thing that we did there was go fishing with Poppy. It was sooo much fun and it was my first time, too! I caught 4 trout, Ashley caught 3, and Poppy caught one fish just in his demonstration on how to fish. We could only get one picture of me with the fish on the line since that was our only chance before Poppy grabbed it.

After that, Ashley and I made a dinner for when Mom and Dad arrived. We made delicious chicken rolls and baked broccoli.

The next night, we cooked the fish that Ashley, Poppy, and I caught.

On Nana's birthday, we went to the lake, and Trevin, Ashley, and I all had wild rides on the tube. When Trevin and I were tubing, Nana was driving and the water was really choppy, and Trev and I were getting some serious air. The wind finally caught our tube when we were on one of our big jumps and completely tipped us over! And the water was FREEZING. I could hardly breathe when I landed.

 Nana skiing.

 Ashley skiing.

Ash and I in the tube.

 Ready for a wild ride.

While we were all at the lake, we played volleyball, which was really fun, especially when Nana played with us. She had a scary war cry when she hit the ball.

One night we all decided to go mini golfing. I've never been before, and it was really fun. I'm pretty sure we all at least got one hole in one. The end of the course was really cool. It was just straight but uphill. There was a hole that you had to putt the ball into and if you missed it would just fall somewhere else. There was a statue, and if you could putt the ball into the main hole, then the statue would congratulate you and blow fire into the air. It was really hot. If you missed, the statue would make fun of you and squirt water at you.

I was dying to ride Poppy's ATV. We just couldn't be at their house and not ride. We all got to drive it between the rows of piles of hay (before the hay was baled), and when you get to the point where you're about to get out of the field and back on the road again, there's a small hill. You can imagine how we decided to use that: use it as a ramp and jump off of it in the ATV! And fast!

This is us just messing around the house.

Trevin found the bottom of Nana and Poppy's drink dispenser and put it on his head.

 So did Dad.
Nana and Poppy's friends came over when our vacation was almost over and that's when I played my flute. I played "I Know that my Redeemer Lives" with piano accompaniment. Of course, I forgot my flute, so I had to borrow someone else's really, really old flute. Everyone said that I made it sound beautiful. If only I had my own flute there...

Tom and Carisa (and their kids) came in the evening. The next night, Kylie, Ashley, and I all got to sleep in Poppy's office. We decided to watch a movie. By the time we decided what movie to watch, everyone was in bed. Ky and I agreed that we needed to have snacks and popcorn for the movie, so we snuck in the house and into the pantry. Let me tell you, Kylie and I had quite an adventure that night. :) As we were picking out our snacks, Trevin came in and said something like "caught you!" but I really don't remember since both Kylie and I were literally on the ground completely terrified. We hit Trev as he went to bed and started looking for popcorn. We found some, and realized: we don't know how to use the popcorn maker! But we used it anyway with the help of Kylie's trusty iPhone. Of course, when you try to be quiet in the middle of the night, you're doing the impossible. We poured the popcorn kernels: loud. Kylie dropped the oil bottle: loud. We started giggling: also loud. That's not all. I pushed the "on" button on the popcorn maker and we sat on the floor waiting for it to start popping. Then, Nana and Poppy's bedroom door opened. Ky and I layed completely flat (very loudly, might I add) until the door shut again. We decided to hide under the table and wait for the popcorn to finish. We started to worry that we broke the popcorn maker since it still wasn't popping. But finally, after what seemed like forever, we heard a pop. And another. And more and more. There was no way Nana and Poppy couldn't hear that. But, they never came out to tell us to go to bed. If we were applying for robber school, we wouldn't have made it in. When the popcorn finished, we realized we forgot to put salt on it! So we got the butter salt and dumped it on. Big mistake. We should have just left it as it was. It was WAY too salty. We poured it into a bowl and went back inside and watched our movie. And we all fell asleep in the middle of it.
The next morning, we were going to leave, but Mom and Dad let Ashley and I stay a few extra days and just go with Carisa when she headed back to her house. During those extra days, Kylie and I made baby blankets with Nana. I really enjoyed it! I love how they turned out.

When we left Idaho and went to Tom and Carisa's house, the mountain was on fire! It was going on for a few days before and after we got there. It was amazing to watch, but really sad, too.

 Leaving Idaho.

 Fish cloud!

In Utah, we got to see the Amazing Spiderman. It was soooo good! I loved it! I think I like it more than the first Spiderman. They did a really good job of changing the story without ruining it. If you haven't seen the movie, go see it. It's worth it.
After our few extra days on vacation, it was time for Ashley and I to go home. I sure had a fun time on the trip.
Beautiful sunset on the night before we left Utah.
